Epilogue:
This album is an homage to Science. In this world there is nothing holy, divine or supernatural. The one thing closest to the true meaning of these words is Science, the tool given to us by the “gods” of reason, to help us understand what is and what is not. ΩΝ, meaning “He who is”, represents the absolute truth of the Human Being. An evolutionary living organism made of Stardust, the universe itself asking questions of its existence. Of course, later, christians abused this laconic and full of meaning word, degraded it and attributed its meaning to their cult’s false god, with some of them actually believing that their god is true and good, while in reality when you read their holy books you can clearly see that exactly the opposite is true, but they rely on their apologist’s propaganda and simple people’s ignorance nowadays, while they relied on the sword in past centuries. Their god as all gods, are false. There is no god and there are no gods. What there surely is, is Science.
This album is a dream come true of a Metalhead that grew up in a small village listening to Metal and Rock bands. A vision of uniting all these great artists, under a higher purpose. This is what this Album is. A one-time collaboration mainly (but not only) of Hellenes artists that participated by their own good will in this vision that will result, among other things, in aiding some of our fellow humans.
ΩΝ brief bio:
ΩΝ is not a band. ΩΝ is the vision of a dedicated Metal devotee and this album, the first manifestation of the vision. It is the natural continuation of ΩΝ’s musical evolution, formerly known with other names. ΩΝ as a band/project, do not support or promote any political ideology through their music, because ΩΝ is above politics.
ΩΝ supports:
Atheism:
Atheism is, in the broadest sense, the absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is the rejection of belief that any deities exist. In an even narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. The etymological root for the word atheism originated before the 5th century BCE from the ancient Hellenic ἄθεος (atheos), meaning "without god(s)". In Western classical Antiquity, theism was the fundamental belief that supported the legitimacy of the state (the polis, later the Roman Empire). Historically, any person who did not believe in any deity supported by the state was fair game to accusations of atheism, a capital crime. For political reasons, Socrates in Athens (399 BCE) was accused of being atheos ("refusing to acknowledge the gods recognized by the state").
Presocratic philosophy:
The roots of Western philosophy began in the Hellenic world in the sixth century BCE. The first Hellenic philosophers were not atheists, but they attempted to explain the world in terms of the processes of nature instead of by mythological accounts. Thus lightning was the result of "wind breaking out and parting the clouds", and earthquakes occurred when "the earth is considerably altered by heating and cooling". The early philosophers often criticized traditional religious notions. Xenophanes (6th century BCE) famously said that if cows and horses had hands, "then horses would draw the forms of gods like horses, and cows like cows". Another philosopher, Anaxagoras (5th century BCE), claimed that the Sun was "a fiery mass, larger than the Peloponnese"; a charge of impiety was brought against him, and he was forced to flee Athens. The first fully materialistic philosophy was produced by the atomists Leucippus and Democritus (5th century BCE), who attempted to explain the formation and development of the world in terms of the chance movements of atoms moving in infinite space. Euripides (480 - 406 BCE), in his play Bellerophon, had the eponymous main character say:
“Doth some one say that there be gods above?
There are not; no, there are not. Let no fool,
Led by the old false fable, thus deceive you.”
A fragment from the lost satyr play Sisyphus, which has been attributed to both Critias and Euripides, claims that a clever man invented "the fear of the gods" in order to frighten people into behaving morally. This statement, however, originally did not mean that the gods themselves were nonexistent, but rather that their powers were a hoax. Aristophanes (448 - 380 BCE), known for his satirical style, wrote in his play “the Knights”: "Shrines! Shrines! Surely you don't believe in the gods. What's your argument? Where's your proof?"
The Sophists:
In the fifth century BCE the Sophists began to question many of the traditional assumptions of Hellenic culture. Prodicus of Ceos was said to have believed that "it was the things which were serviceable to human life that had been regarded as gods", and Protagoras stated at the beginning of a book that "With regard to the gods I am unable to say either that they exist or do not exist". In the late fifth century BCE, the Hellene lyric poet Diagoras of Melos was sentenced to death in Athens under the charge of being a "godless person" (ἄθεος) after he made fun of the Eleusinian Mysteries, but he fled the city to escape punishment. Later writers have cited Diagoras as the "first atheist", but he was probably not an atheist in the modern sense of the word. Somewhat later (c. 300 BCE), the Cyrenaic philosopher Theodorus of Cyrene is supposed to have denied that gods exist and wrote a book “On the gods” expounding his views. Euhemerus (c. 330 - 260 BCE) published his view that the gods were only the deified rulers, conquerors, and founders of the past, and that their cults and religions were in essence the continuation of vanished kingdoms and earlier political structures. Although Euhemerus was later criticized for having "spread atheism over the whole inhabited earth by obliterating the gods", his worldview was not atheist in a strict and theoretical sense, because he differentiated that the primordial deities were "eternal and imperishable". Some historians have argued that he merely aimed at reinventing the old religions in the light of the beginning of deification of political rulers such as Alexander the Great. Euhemerus' work was translated into Latin by Ennius, possibly to mythographically pave the way for the planned divinization of Scipio Africanus in Rome.
Epicureanism:
The most important Hellene thinker in the development of atheism was Epicurus (c. 300 BCE). Drawing on the ideas of Democritus and the Atomists, he espoused a materialistic philosophy according to which the universe was governed by the laws of chance without the need for divine intervention (see scientific determinism). Although Epicurus still maintained that the gods existed, he believed that they were uninterested in human affairs. The aim of the Epicureans was to attain ataraxia ("peace of mind") and one important way of doing this was by exposing fear of divine wrath as irrational. The Epicureans also denied the existence of an afterlife and the need to fear divine punishment after death. One of the most eloquent expressions of Epicurean thought is Lucretius' “On the Nature of Things” (1st century BCE) in which he held that gods exist but argued that religious fear was one the chief cause of human unhappiness and that the gods did not involve themselves in the world. The Epicureans also denied the existence of an afterlife and hence dismissed the fear of death. Epicurians denied being atheist but their critics insisted. One explanation for this kind of crypto-atheism, is that they were afraid of persecutions. Epicureans were not persecuted, but their teachings were controversial and were harshly attacked by the mainstream schools of Stoicism and Neoplatonism. The movement remained marginal, and gradually died out by the end of the Roman Empire.
Persecution of Atheists:
The ancient world was not all roses for atheists though. After some drawbacks in the peloponnesian war, especially after the failed Sicilian Expedition, society took a conservative turn and laws against atheism and foreign religions were promptly taken (Decree of Diopeithes). Anaxagoras was the first to be exiled under this new law.

0. The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose (freedom 0).
1. The freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
2. The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help others (freedom 2).
3. The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3). By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

Facts and Statements:
Some of the many people we support, like and suggest: Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, James Randi, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bertrand Russell, William “Bill” Sanford Nye, George Carlin, C.G., K.M., P.K., M.B., F.E., F.N., Kazimierz Łyszczyński (a Polish nobleman, philosopher, and soldier who was accused, tried, and executed for atheism in 1689. His tongue was pulled out followed by a beheading), and many more people that suffered from religions, or fought against them, that are not forgotten but can’t be mentioned here because of limited space. We Remember You, We Thank You, We Hail You.
There is a relatively small minority, only 7 percent of the members of the National Academy of Sciences, the elite of American science, believe in a personal god. god is not a coherent part of the scientific model of any believing scientist. Science and religion are fundamentally incompatible because of their contradictory views on the source of knowledge. Science assumes that only by observation can we learn about the world. Religion assumes that, in addition, we learn by revelations from god.
Science thrived in ancient Hellas and later, Rome. But the christian Church muffled Science when it took over the Roman Empire in the 4th century, ushering in the 1,000-year period known as the Dark Ages. This ended with the Renaissance and the rise of the new Science, when people could once again think and speak more freely.
Great Scientists as Galileo and Newton were christians because their only other choice was to be burned at the stake. Atheism did not appear openly until the French Enlightenment a century later. That light was produced by the mind, not the flames engulfing a heretic.
Darwin showed that complex organisms evolve from simpler ones by purely natural processes, without the need for a more complex designer. It is important to note that Darwinian evolution implied many predictions that could have been falsified but were not. For example, evolution requires that the sun and Earth are much older than seemed possible at the time from physics. It was not until the twentieth century, with the discovery of nuclear fusion as the source of energy for the sun, that this problem was solved.
Science does not follow that life had to be created by god. To assert that, you have the burden of proving that science will never discover the natural origin of life. We have no reason to think that’s impossible. The basic ingredients of life are copious in space. Amino acids were produced spontaneously out of simple ingredients in the lab in 1953 by graduate student Stanley Miller after running his experiment for only a week.
Modern cosmology implies that our universe began in total chaos and so possesses no memory of a creation or creator. A number of models, fully worked out mathematically, show that no laws of physics were necessarily broken to produce the universe. Quantum mechanics demonstrates that not everything that begins has a cause.
Modern cosmology now has strong reason to think that our universe is just one of an endless number of universes called the “multiverse.” The multiverse is infinite and eternal; it had no beginning and will have no end. There was no need for a creator because there was no creation.
“Nothing” is notoriously difficult to define. To define it you have to give it some property. But then if it has a property it is not “nothing.” So this is an incoherent question unless you define nothing as an empty vacuum. In any case, the multiverse didn’t have to come from anything. It always was.
A number of plausible scenarios for the natural origin of the universe have been published by reputable cosmologists in reputable scientific journals.
What we call the “laws” of physics are not something inherent in the universe. They are not commandments that material objects must obey. They are principles that physicists build into models to describe their observations. We should not assume that any of the ingredients in the models of physics correspond one-to-one with actual objects of ultimate reality.
While our kind of life would not have evolved had the constants been different, a number of independent computer simulations by competent scientists have demonstrated that some form of life in the universe would be possible over a wide range of constants. It is wrong to assume that Earth life is the only possible kind of life.
Socrates proposed what is called the Euthyphro dilemma: Either (a) god wills us to do what is good because certain acts are good, or (b) an act is good only because god wills it. If (a), then moral values are independent of god. If (b) then there is no morality because god can will whatever he wants. In this case, if he asks you to kill a baby, would you do it? If you answer, “That would be against god’s nature,” then you are adopting (a), admitting that there is an objective morality that does not depend on god. If that is the case, then atheists can be just as objectively moral as theists. The original quote (translated in English) was "Is the pious (Hellenic: τὸ ὅσιον) loved by the gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the gods?"
Some of the most notorious politicians of all time were not Atheists and those that were, did not kill in the name of Atheism, while throughout history christians, muslims, hindus, and others have killed millions in the name of their gods. Pope Innocent III alone was responsible for a million innocent deaths during the Fourth Crusade. Now, if there ever was a historical figure who was misnamed, it is Pope Innocent III.
There is absolutely no evidence that the jesus of the gospels even existed. He is only mentioned in the New Testament, which was written long after his death by people who did not know him. St. Paul says little that suggests a historical jesus. He also did not know jesus. His “evidence” for jesus is just his own mystical visions. He said, “I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preach is not of human origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from jesus christ.” (Galatians 1: 11-12). The fact that jesus is not mentioned by any of the many Roman historians of the time, some living in Jerusalem and who wrote voluminously, proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the jesus described in the gospels is largely, if not totally, a fictional character. However, secular scholars disagree on whether jesus is a historical figure. Josephus and Tacitus, were both born after jesus’s supposed crucifixion, so obviously they were not eyewitnesses and wrote long after the fact. Furthermore, the frequently quoted passage from Josephus: “Now there was about this time jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man,” is now recognized to be a much later forgery. Tacitus and Josephus, at best, were writing about a new death cult called christianity, which certainly existed by that time.
In Mathew 5:17-5:18 jesus supposedly says, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” But, then, the Bible is full of contradictions, so it is very possible that a christian can find another laughable passage where jesus says the opposite. It is easy to find many of jesus’s pronouncements that are immoral by modern, objective standards. In Matthew 10:34-35 he says, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.” And in 10:37: “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”
When Darwin saw all the pain and suffering that exists among living things, he lost whatever faith he may have had in a beneficent god. As for human life, for most of history it was, as Thomas Hobbes said, “nasty, brutish and short.” However, this has changed - at least for those of us who are fortunate to live in the developed world. Thanks to science - and no thanks to religion - we are free from much pain and suffering.
Absence of evidence is evidence of absence when it is evidence that should be there and is not. If the god most people worship existed we should have seen evidence for him by now. The fact that we do not, proves beyond a reasonable doubt, that he does not exist.
The more one studies religion objectively, the less one is likely to be religious. Surveys show that atheists know more about religion than theists. Many former evangelical preachers have written eloquently about how they lost their faith once they learned the truth about how the Bible came to be written and pondered the suffering in the world. We are beginning to near that point where we can imagine no religion. When that happens, the world will be a better place.
The persecution of pagans in the late Roman Empire began late during the reign of Constantine the (not-so-great) Great (or just as he should really be remembered, Constantine the Great Killer or Great Murderer), when he ordered the pillaging and the tearing down of some temples. The first anti-pagan laws by the christian state started with Constantine's son Constantius II, who was an opponent of paganism; he ordered the closing of all pagan temples, forbade pagan sacrifices under pain of death, and removed the traditional Altar of Victory from the Senate. Under his reign ordinary christians began to vandalize pagan temples, tombs and monuments. Three Emperors - Gratian, Valentinian II and Theodosius I - came under the influence of the Bishop of Milan, Ambrose. At his suggestion, state anti-paganism policies were reinstituted. As a penitent under the care of Ambrose, Theodosius was influenced to issue the "Theodocian Decrees" of 391. Gratian also removed the Altar of Victory for the second time. The Vestal Virgins were disbanded, and access to Pagan temples was prohibited. During the course of his life, Constantine progressively became more christian and turned away from any syncretic tendencies he appeared to favor at times, thereby demonstrating, according to his biographers, that "The god of the christians was indeed a jealous god who tolerated no other gods beside him. The Church could never acknowledge that she stood on the same plane with other religious bodies, she conquered for herself one domain after another".
Once the Empire was administered by christians, public libraries had their Pagan books progressively replaced by christian books. christians closed Pagan temples and academies, destroying or scattering their libraries and burning the Hellenic Philosophers’ and Scientists’ books and texts and sometimes the Scientists and Philosophers that were alive. Even as early as 235 CE christians, like Sextus Julius Africanus, were in powerful and influential positions in Rome. By 391 CE, as mentioned above, an edict of Theodosius prohibited visiting Pagan temples and even looking at their ruins. In Alexandria, Pagans revolted, led by the philosopher Olympius. They locked themselves inside the temple of the god Serapis - the Serapeion. christians violently sieged and captured the building, demolished it, burnt its famous library and profaned its images. christians try to deny that they ravaged the Pagan learning accumulated over the whole of previous history. These vandalisms started the Dark Ages.
Final explanations, clarifications and notes:
Α). The use of non capital letters of some specific names and words is intentional.
Β). The use of Common Era (CE) and Before Common Era (BCE) notation system is intentional instead of the Dionysian (AD – anno domini, and BC - before christ) notation system.
Γ). The use of the word Hellas, Hellenes and Hellenic instead of Greece, Greeks and Greek respectively is intentional because according to ΩΝ’s view, ancient Hellenes and modern Greeks have many differences, especially (but not only) in their way of thinking, a good example is the official religion of modern Greece, so ΩΝ would like to differentiate the modern Greeks to ancient Hellenes in this album.
Δ). The use of the “Necronomicon Pentagram” is intentional and has its own meaning as almost every detail in this album. H.P.Lovecraft’s work is much appreciated by ΩΝ, but always in the sphere of cosmic horror and weird fiction. In our times, we should already know that there are no magical beings, books or symbols. J.R.R. Tolkien’s works are also much appreciated, but we know there are no Orcs, or Elves nor Valar in the real world. The “Necronomicon Pentagram” used on the band’s logo symbolizes the fake superstitious symbols (whether it is religious or any kind of superstitious belief) by “equalizing” and creating a “subliminal connection” of all these symbols under the “Necronomicon Pentagram”, which is just lines drawn on paper, beautifully drawn lines, but just lines, as every symbol really is. It just happens that some “lines” and “symbols” are of bigger importance, such as the mass-energy equivalence and “π”, etc because they apply to the real world. The “Necronomicon Pentagram” is a “magical”, “satanic” symbol depicting “evil”, (of course it isn’t, its just a symbol created by a man, used by clever men, to scare not-so-clever men) for a false religion (as christianity and all other religions). It is like a cross, a symbol for a mostly fictitious character, a symbol for almost nothing, for an inverted cross, a counter-symbol for … inverted nothingness. A False Satan for a False god. A symbol for realizing that superstitious and religious symbols are nothing. It is good to read books. Lovecraft and Tolkien are good. The “Bible” not so good. Just realize that all are FICTION.
Ε). The sources of the texts vary from personal opinions, to books and internet sources, and thus should be put to each ones personal test. Though they were formed and rely on Science, History and Truth, they are filtered through personal view.
ΣΤ). The band ΩΝ and the man behind it, ΩΝ (He Who Is) is the continuation of a previous project, under a different name, which has been transformed through years into what it is today.
